COLLINGWOOD young gun Jordan De Goey looks set to return for Friday night’s blockbuster against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, but midfielder Taylor Adams and ace forward Jamie Elliott won’t be available after suffering hamstring strains at training on Wednesday.
Scans have revealed minor hamstring strains for Adams and Elliott, with their return dates to full training to be determined in the coming week.
De Goey was one of Collingwood’s best in their VFL win over the Northern Blues, kicking four goals after starting the midfield.
On Wednesday, he lined up in the ‘probables’ team in match simulation and played deep forward.
“He came out of the game pretty well and he’s had a fair amount of training,” said Magpies coach Nathan Buckley.
“We’ll consider him this week and look at the balance of the squad this afternoon.”
Despite having yet to claim the four premiership points in four attempts at Adelaide Oval, Buckley said his troops were excited by the challenge that lies ahead.
“We have always been a club that enjoys travelling,” said Buckley.
“We enjoy the challenge of leaving the home state and galvanising together as a unit to go and get a job done.”
“We are not concerned or overawed by the challenge or the previous records or by travelling away.”
“We look forward to the challenge.”
