FORMER Brisbane Lions captain Dayne Beams will face his former team in round five, with the Collingwood midfielder named to play in Thursday night’s clash at the Gabba.

Beams missed last week’s hard-fought 14-point win over the Western Bulldogs due to illness, but returns to replace injured utility Chris Mayne in the solitary change for the Magpies.

Mayne sustained a back injury following a collision in the early going of last week’s game, with the ex-Docker tipped to be on the sidelines for at least a week.

Flynn Appleby has travelled to Brisbane as the travelling emergency.

The Lions, meanwhile, remain unchanged with coach Chris Fagan backing in his charges to bounce back from the 47-point loss at the hands of Essendon last-start.
